About

Bronzeville estates is a partnership between Maures Development and Scott Crawford, Inc. to bring family style housing into the historic Bronzeville neighborhood in Milwaukee, WI.

Past

The majority of the sites where city owned tax foreclosed vacant lots and blighted buildings.  Many of these vacant lots were created during the creation of the interstate, which split of the African American community.

Present

Bronzeville Estates will start construction on 30 units of infill development in October 2022.  The scattered sites are primarily bounded by West Chambers Street to the north, West North Avenue to the south, North 7th Street to the west, and North 5th Street to the east and generally located within the Bronzeville neighborhood in the City of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The general areas surrounding the sites are urban in nature. The representative immediate areas surrounding the proposed sites are primarily older single-family homes in average to poor condition, with institutional uses in the form of churches, schools, commercial, and industrial properties as well as small parcels of vacant land scattered throughout the area.

The effort was supported financially by Low Income Housing Tax Credits, American Rescue Plan Act Funding, Federal Home Loan Bank Affordable Home Program and City of Milwaukee HOME Funds.
