About

Located with the 30th Street Industrial Corridor, once the Heartbeat of The City of Milwaukee, Scott Crawford, Inc and Roers Companies has the opportunity to create a small community that wholistically grows family.

PAST

Architectural Statement: The North 32nd Street plant of the Briggs and Stratton Corporation is a sprawling maze of industrial buildings spread over various blocks. Covering a range of style and periods, the existing structures have been well adapted to manufacturing use.

Historical Statement: Briggs and Stratton Corporation was founded in 1909 and initially produced automotive components, principally a battery ignition system. It originally occupied one floor of rented space on Clybourn. Since WWII it claims to be the undisputed world leader in the production of single cylinder, four cycle gasoline engines and automotive locks and keys. The main office is at 3300 N. 124th with additional plants at 1706 S. 68th Street and 2748 N. 32nd Street.

Present

The current facilities are over 300,000 sq ft of vacant industrial space within the 30th Street Industrial Corridor.  For a building that has been mostly vacant for over 30 years, the structure of the building is vastly intact.

The development team has secured Federal and State Historic Tax credits and funds from Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District which represents about 40% of the total development costs.

We are currently under construction with over $66,000,000 of construction financing being committed.

Future

Much like the Stacks Lofts in Atlanta or the Sabine Lofts in Houston Texas, a housing development in revitalized districts serves as an anchor.  This anchor in Milwaukee is so monumental because of its size and dynamics and unlike the aforementioned developments preserve affordable housing.

The development includes multiple housing types that cater to the cultivation of family life.  The entire development will feature 197 residential apartments from studio units to 4-bedroom units. Also, the property will feature a 35,000 square feet, Community Service Facility which will include early childhood education, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math after school programming, a 25,000 square feet health club (Basketball, Volleyball & Futsal, Skatepark), laundromat and a petite food service provider.

Creative Corridor

In support of the residents of The Community Within The Corridor and the neighboring community, Rayhaino Boynes has been working with the creative community to attract businesses, collaborators and educators.
